How Much Do Permanent Christmas Lights Cost in Florida? (Per-Foot Pricing, Lifespan, Break-Even)

Permanent holiday lights, the color-changing track systems that live under your eaves year-round, are the fastest-growing category in outdoor lighting, and the first question everyone asks is what they cost. Here are the real numbers for Central Florida, what drives them, how long the systems last, and when they make more sense than seasonal lighting.

Cost per foot in Central Florida

Installed permanent lighting runs about $18 to $35 per linear foot in our market. The range depends on the brand and controller, how many stories, how much of the house you light, and how difficult the fascia is to work with. That works out to:

• Front elevation of a typical single-story home (100 to 150 feet): $2,500 to $4,500
• Front of a two-story home, both rooflines (180 to 250 feet): $4,000 to $7,500
• All sides of a large home (300 to 450 feet): $7,500 to $14,000 or more

Every quote should list the measured footage, the per-foot rate and the controller, so you can see exactly how the total was built.

A slim aluminum channel, color-matched to your trim, mounted under the eave or behind the fascia lip, holding individually addressable LED points every few inches. How long do permanent Christmas lights last?

The LED modules in quality systems are rated for 50,000 hours or more. At six hours a night that is more than twenty years, though the realistic planning number for Florida sun, rain and humidity is ten to fifteen years before you would expect to replace components. Powder-coated track and sealed modules matter here; cheap DIY strips from a big-box store fade and fail in a couple of summers.

Permanent vs. seasonal: the math

Seasonal all-inclusive lighting for the same house costs roughly $800 to $2,500 a year and includes the classic C9 look, wrapped trees, wreaths and garland, plus install, maintenance and takedown. Permanent lighting is a one-time $2,500 to $12,000 with near-zero yearly cost. For most homes the two lines cross around year four or five. If you plan to be in the house longer than that and want lights for more than one holiday, permanent wins. If you love big-bulb C9s, want trees and garland, or might move soon, seasonal is the better value. Many of our customers do both: a permanent roofline plus seasonal trees and wreaths in December.
