Howey-in-the-Hills is the small town on the south shore of Lake Harris in central Lake County, named for the citrus hills it sits on and known for the Mission Inn Resort and its two golf courses. The homes are a mix of 1920s Mediterranean revivals from the town's founding, newer golf-course communities like Venezia near the resort, and lakefront properties along Lake Harris with docks and boathouses. It is about forty minutes from our Apopka shop up SR 19 and runs with Tavares and Leesburg on our north Lake route.
The original Howey homes have tile roofs, arches and towers that take a warm white C9 outline with tile-safe clips and garland on the loggias. Golf-course homes near the Mission Inn are newer, with long single-story rooflines and palms at the entry, and the design is a clean roofline run with spiraled palms and a wreath. Lakefront homes on Lake Harris almost always add the rear elevation, the dock and the boathouse so the display reads from the water during the chain-of-lakes boat parades.
Howey is small enough that we group its homes onto north Lake route days two or three times a week from late October through November. Everything runs on a dusk timer, maintenance is free all season, and we return in January for takedown and storage. Any route fee is shown on the quote before you decide and is usually waived when neighbors book together.
