Umatilla sits at the north end of Lake County on SR 19, the last town before the Ocala National Forest, with a small downtown, a lot of lakefront and a lot of acreage. Homes around Lake Yale, Lake Dalhousie and Lake Umatilla range from older fishing-camp cottages to large newer houses on several acres, and many have long driveways and docks. We reach Umatilla in about forty minutes from Apopka on SR 46 and SR 19 and run it on our north Lake route with Eustis and Tavares.

On a lakefront or acreage property the roofline is a starting point, not the whole job. A typical Umatilla design pairs a warm white C9 roofline with trunk wraps on the live oaks by the house, stake lighting or wrapped fence posts along the drive, and a lit dock or boathouse gable so the display carries across the water. Downtown Umatilla's older homes near the Umatilla Community Center have porches and gables that take garland and wreaths well, and the city's own holiday events keep the tradition strong. Power can be spread out on larger lots, so we plan circuits and timers so everything switches on together at dusk.

Umatilla installs are scheduled on north Lake County route days, usually two a week from late October through November, and larger properties may take most of a day. Anything that fails during the season, including strands chewed by squirrels, which is common near the forest, is replaced free. Takedown runs in January and the whole display returns to our warehouse until next season.
